GSK's continued commitment to Global Health allows us to contribute to addressing some of the most challenging health issues facing the world today, notably HIV, Malaria and TB. GSK's Global Health universal focus is on fighting infectious diseases that affect children and young people in the developing world. The importance of Global Health to the company is significant; it provides benefits to society, drives motivation and inspiration for employees and generates substantive scientific and economic returns.

The specific role is to:

  • Support the Head, Strategy, Planning and Operations, Global Health, report to CET/Board the enterprise (company) position on Global Health (progress against strategy, impact and escalate any issues)
  • Support the successful implementation on the CET/Board approved Global Health strategy (10year Global Health Roadmap)
  • Act as an internal strategic consultancy to support Global Health businesses across 3+1, i.e. Pharma, Vaccines, Viiv and Cx
  • Optimise Global Health partnerships (with external NGOs/SNOs*) and support/optimise LOC engagement

(* NGOs/SNOs = Non-government organisations/Supra-national organisations, e.g. Gates Foundation, Save the Children etc)

  • Support the consolidation and reporting to CET/Board so they feel confident that the GH enterprise strategy (roadmap) is being successfully implemented and we are on track to deliver i.e.
    • Progress of GH assets/activities/programmes
    • Alignment with the CET approved GH narrative
    • Financial view (spend vs. plan, proposed future investment, sustainability)
    • Escalate any core strategic risks and/or issues
    • Undertake analyses to support insights reporting
  • Work with the businesses to agree aligned set of annual 1+3 GH Objectives
  • Support implementation of the annual GH Plan which links Board, subset CET, GH Lead Team, financial planning reviews and any key business governance boards and act as secretariat at CET sub-group meetings
  • Support the businesses as needed to deliver their objectives to accelerate delivery and navigate roadblocks, i.e. act as strategic consultants utilising agile solutions & best practice
  • Support strategic relationships with key partners working across multiple businesses to ensure strategic visibility, monitor status and health of relationships (progress, connections, spend, impact), support & build connections between the businesses & external partners as required
  • Develop and report new approaches to measure impact working across multiple businesses, determine how best to quantify impact based on return of investment
  • LOC engagement & activity - ensure visibility of LOCs involved in GH programmes/assets and LOCs who identify potential GH opportunities and support key LOCs who need GH support to build their trust/reputational plans.
