Sensory & Product Understanding Director of Operations, Open to flexibility

**An exciting opportunity to join GSK's Sensory & Product Understanding group as the Director of Operations**

The Sensory & Product Understanding (S&PU) Director of Operations is a core member of the R&D S&PU Team. As the successful applicant, you will lead and manage all operational aspects of the S&PU team at GSK Consumer Health. Key activities will include managing team meetings, SOP revisions, CAPA development and completion, management monitoring, budget management and consumer sensory lab oversight.

In this role, you will collaborate, innovate and consult with all global S&PU team members and with key partners (e.g. Procurement, QA, Audit and Assurance, Ethics & Compliance, Finance, R&D Operations) to drive strategy and operational excellence. You will lead on all aspects of compliance, risk assessment, SOP development and provide oversight and/or responses for internal audits (IBM, A&A) on processes, systems, or procedures and act as the Authorising Manager for CAPAs in TrackWise & GEC Dashboard.

The successful applicant must have in-depth knowledge on global lab practices and ensure that all S&PU studies are compliant with GSK and industry standards. You will be able to establish & maintain a fit for purpose Quality System to manage all S&PU activities in compliance with International Regulations & guidelines on GxP requirements and applicable GSK Policy on Human Subject Research

You will proactively partner with manager, S&PU team members and key cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that all systems are working to their optimum potential and identified risks as they arise and mitigation plans. In addition you will oversees on-going support of standards implementation including training and continual process evaluation (e.g., KPIs/metrics, CAPAs, trend analyses); review and recommend training materials and training needs

Finally you will be able to thinks innovatively for better, more efficient ways of doing things. Actively looking to eliminate non-value-added steps out of processes and procedures.

Basic qualifications:

  • Significant experience of partnering with Regulatory, Product Development, Supply Chain and Medical on the requirements for product design and an understanding of the approval processes
  • Experience in leading and managing quality related initiatives and driving compliance best practices
  • Experience of driving compliance initiatives as an active member of Sensory & Product Understanding team and has experience of leading enterprise level change
  • Experience of working in highly complex matrix organisation; leading teams of Leaders
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical and operational problems in a timely manner.
  • The incumbent should demonstrate clear written and communication skills and have strong experience in managing audits / budgets
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, broader trends in healthcare landscape
  • Strong and broad understanding with SOP development, audit
  • Excellent written and communication skills given need for strong stakeholder management
  • Well organised and with a strong sense of urgency the incumbent should be a team player with a creative mind, to establish innovative business solutions and concepts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at leading complex multi-faceted projects and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of running clinical trials

Preferred qualifications:

  • MA/MS/MBA in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or Biological Sciences
