Following an internal talent move, we have a director-level opportunity in our Pharmaceuticals communications team for an experienced, highly accountable professional, with a passion for business and making a difference. Reporting to the Head of Communication and Government Affairs for the Pharma Supply Chain (PSC), you will be part of a team that supports an organisation of more than 20,000 employees and over 30 manufacturing sites around the world, working closely with colleagues in both R&D and Commercial.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders in the Supply Chain on employee engagement, reputation and issues management, providing strategic advice, planning, communications/media training, coaching and shaping both internal and external content.
  • Develop and implement effective communication plans to help deliver global business priorities
  • Play an influential leadership role to improve employee engagement in PSC, to support execution of business strategy and drive improvements in performance on supply chain fundamentals (quality, safety, sustainability and customer service) and financials (working capital and cost).
  • Support the delivery of a leader-sponsored culture change in PSC that simplifies ways of working, strengthens accountability and decision-making, improves teamwork and enables greater pace and agility in execution.
  • Proactively identify potential reputation risks and advise the business on our response.

Candidate profile;

  • This role requires an experienced communicator - creative and forward-thinking - who can credibly influence at a senior level.
  • Ideally, you should have a good understanding of GSK and established networks in the company. Alternatively, you will have substantial experience working with large multinational organisations, preferably in industry.
  • The role requires an ability to identify and focus on key issues and priorities, to take complex briefs and simplify information quickly, for both lay and more sophisticated audiences.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and delivering communications strategies that are effective at both a global and local level, including how to engage a culturally diverse and remote workforce, many of whom are not regular PC users.
