Scotland is the headquarters of our International Supply Centre (ISC) and home of Diageo's diverse range of Scotch whiskies. With the growth trajectory for Scotch looking strong, Diageo has announced plans to invest over £1 billion in Scotch whisky production over the next five years to meet growing global demand for our brands. The investment will see a major new malt distillery built expansion of existing distilleries and substantial new warehousing capacity will be developed. There are eight main warehousing sites, housing our maturing stocks of Scotch whisky, supported by a state of the art cooperage opened in 2011 and coppersmiths. In Scotland we employ 4500+ staff across almost 50 sites, with our brands accounting for over 20% of Scotland's food and drink exports. Spanning across 46 sites throughout Scotland we make whisky brands including Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, Oban, Talisker and Johnnie Walker. In addition, 12 of our Scottish distilleries are also visitor centres attracting whisky lovers from across the globe.

About the role


Your key responsibility will be the leadership and management of a cross-functional production team covering quality, risk, process support and laboratory services. You'll have accountability for ensuring site production satisfies or improves on budget, volume, cost and efficiency targets.

Further responsibilities include:



  • Leading, motivating and inspiring your team ensuring that you create a positive and performance driven team environment that results in excellence.
  • Continuously promoting a positive working environment, which provides opportunities for the development of strong working relationships.
  • Setting objective standards to ensure that the sites achieve the quality assurance required by the business.
  • Ensuring effective liaison with relevant agencies relating to quality, risk and environment to ensure compliance with external and internal Diageo standards.

About you


Do you have the desire to live, work and enjoy the beauty and charm of Scotland, in particular the Highlands and Islands? The location complements the role, with approximately half of Scotland's whiskies produced in the Speyside region you'll be right in the heart of where the best-loved whisky is created.

We're looking for natural leaders with a proven track record in people management with experience in developing and working in a partnership / service orientated environment. We're also looking for people with the experience of delivering in a world class environment using Lean / Six Sigma / Manufacturing Excellence (ManEx) principles to drive performance.

It's essential that you have experience of running a Distillery and full Malt distilling process as well as having gained a Six Sigma certification or similar and have experience working in a manufacturing excellence production environment.

You'll have great leadership & coaching capabilities / behaviours to drive individual and team performance across the business. And you'll use these skills to help sustain a positive working environment and deliver key people initiatives such as employee engagement and capability development.
