Heritage (Schools) Officer, Open to flexible working
Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity until 2nd August 2019
Hackney Heritage comprises two sites, Hackney Museum and Hackney Archives. This role is primarily based at Hackney Museum, although some work across both sites will be required, as directed.
Hackney Museum is the social history museum for the London Borough of Hackney. It has a reputation for its collaborative work with local communities and its engaging learning programme for primary schools, which focuses on and celebrates diverse local histories. We are a small and dynamic team, seeking a new member with shared values, ambition, creativity and commitment, to help us to maximise our social impact and make a difference to the individuals and communities of Hackney.
The role of Heritage (Schools) Officer is delivery-focused and the post-holder will lead workshops for primary school classes on a regular basis, as well as promoting and evaluating them. We are looking for someone who is confident at public speaking and working with diverse audiences, with experience of working with primary school aged children within an education or heritage setting. The successful candidate will also be a positive, responsive and creative thinker with excellent organisational skills, a keenness to learn and develop local history knowledge, and the ability to contribute to a fast-paced team.
The role requires flexible working, with early starts for school workshops, and occasional evening and weekend working to support community and family activities as required, across the two sites.
