Hackney Council’s Award Winning Supported Employment Team, provide a tailored service supporting residents with disabilities and health conditions to access a diverse range of employment opportunities. As part of this strategy, the team has recently launched its Supported Internships, for young people (age 16-25) with SEND.  

The role of the Supported Internship Team Leader will be to develop and expand the internship offer for young people with SEND, whilst driving and monitoring performance on each internship programme. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the range of internships, whilst introducing robust monitoring processes, to review performance; thus ensuring all internships are employment-focused and consistent with the Council’s strategic objectives. The postholder will manage a team of Job Coaches, across a number of sites, whilst leading on further development of the internship offer; including securing placements and partnership working.

You will need to have experience of managing and supervising staff, coupled with experience of securing competitive employment, for marginalised groups, within a target driven environment. Previous experience of working with people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and autism is also required, along with an excellent working knowledge of IPS, TSI and other Supported Employment models.

The post holder is also expected to maintain effective communication with stakeholders, to ensure referrals are processed timeously, whilst creatively leading a team of Job Coaches to achieve quality outcomes for young people with SEND.
