Scope:

Diageo Business Services (DBS), a multi-functional global shared services function established to liberate and equip markets to deliver the Diageo Performance Ambition.  Under-pinned by secure and stable operations and putting customers and consumers at the heart of everything we do. 

The Portfolio Delivery Director role is critical to this agenda, responsible for establishing and leading delivery of a highly prioritised and planned portfolio of work that delivers high impact business benefit fast through Agile delivery model.

In addition this role builds and leads a global extended team of 50+ Project leaders accountable for the delivery of a wide range for improvement projects across Commercial, Marketing, Analytics, Supply & Procurement, Technical, Enterprise Operations & Corporate.The Portfolio Delivery Director will oversee management of the portfolio budget, staff budget and value delivery for investment. 

Top responsibilities:

  • Build team focused on disciplined project and value delivery: Lead a remote team of portfolio and project leaders, create a high-performance culture and upweight the performance impact across the team. Coach and develop individual team members.
  • Embed best practice project rigor, discipline and Agile method for delivering projects – Oversee team, coach and support in delivery of standardised, best practice delivery, stakeholder leadership, outcome orientation, Resource Allocation, Financial Management, Project Reporting.  Play key leadership role to support PMO to establish simpler processes and single ways of working across all Project areas.
  • Efficient, Customer Centric project delivery – This role ensures that portfolio of programs delivers simplification, user experience-focused business improvement through an integrated solution set into the business.
  • Project Delivery Costs – Identify opportunities to reduce the costs of project delivery costs within the Portfolio Area.  Develop and lead the implementation of plans to reduce these costs.
  • Compliance & Controls: Create a team culture and ways of working that emphasises compliance and control of project delivery but does not over govern and constrain pace of delivery.

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Language fluency in English is a must
  • Significant senior management experience in IS, Project Delivery or Finance
  • Experience working with Agile methology
  • Proven track record of large scale program delivery and overseeing delivery of a portfolio of projects, excellent program Governance skills
  • Experience establishing project management and delivery organisation
  • Strong business partnering skills to build relationships with and influence senior leaders across the organisation
  • Remote leadership experience in building and driving performance of teams
  • Proven track record of executional ability and making change happen
  • Excellent pan cultural impact and influencing skills
  • Ability to travel 25%
