You will report into the Head of Reporting and Forecasting. You will have a significant degree of interaction with group finance and require a very strong accounting background to deal with the various transactions the group undertakes.

The demands placed on the reporting team are constantly changing as the group transforms to bring in acquisitions and form the new joint venture for the Consumer Healthcare business with Pfizer. Therefore, you will need to be comfortable challenging, adapting and improving the tax reporting processes to respond to a changing environment. The individual will also need the ability to communicate across business units and different parts of the business to keep driving forward improvements to the tax reporting process.

Responsibilities:

  • Group Reporting (reporting into the GSK Head of Reporting and Forecasting) - management of the monthly, quarterly and annual tax balances.
  • Tax Reporting process improvements - at GSK we have made significant improvements to the group reporting process to roll out a more efficient, standardised process across most of the group. You will look for further improvements in order to eliminate exceptions and keep developing the process.
  • Advising on the tax accounting implications of M&A activity - The Group is always active in the M&A space. You will provide advice to the Corporate Development team on the implications, from a tax accounting perspective, of various M&A projects including providing input into board papers.
  • Supporting GSK's commitment to tax transparency - you will work within the Tax Strategy team to deal with the requirement for tax balances becoming increasingly transparent and communicated in an open and understandable way. For example, the CSR and communication around CBCR will be an equally important part of the role as delivering the numerical balances in the annual report.

Basic qualifications:

  • Strong accounting and tax background (ACA or equivalent)
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and build robust and efficient excel reports
  • Ability to challenge current thinking and implement process improvement
  • Good awareness of the tax environment (e.g. BEPS, CBCR, tax transparency)
  • Ability to understand and utilize accounting platforms
