Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a curious, intelligent, & strategic planner who can bring sharp insight and consumer-centric thinking to the development of the marketing drivers across our premium reserve portfolio (from super cool frontier Bourbon ‘Bulleit’, to our fashion centric super premium vodka ‘Ciroc’). You will be adept at proactively defining and communicating opportunities for growth, whilst also ensuring these opportunities are capitalised on through powerful consumer activities and plans. You will be able to influence across a broad range of senior stakeholders and work within a complex organisational structure. You will have an infectious passion for driving a vibrant consumer and shopper culture across the team.
With an ambition to double the Diageo reserve business in the coming years, there are exciting plans to fuel growth across an amazing portfolio of brands: from our unsurpassed range of malt whiskies to our premium plays across vodka, tequila, rum and “new world” whiskies. We need to drive real scale behind these brands, whilst maintaining the sense of premium, which is integral to their success. As part of a highly integrated Europe Consumer and Shopper Planning team, you will share the ambition to deliver thought leadership and action by consistently unlocking powerful insight that inspires big marketing and innovation ideas and then directs them to brilliant execution.
This role is a hybrid between a brand planning and shopping planning role. Planning is a relatively new area of expertise within the Reserve business, but essential in ensuring the growth of our super premium and luxury brands at scale, based on real consumer and shopper insight
Where will this take you?
You will be working in a second to none planning function (incorporating brand, innovation, shopper and market planners). Research is only one part of this role and an enabler to developing brilliant work, as opposed to end in itself. You will be exposed to, and leveraging our famous planning and brand building tools. You will have exposure to numerous other parts of the business (marketing, innovation, commercial) and will work across a broad range of markets. An ideal next step could be moving into another part of planning within Europe or one of many global opportunities which also exist
You will have a proven track record in research/ planning roles (preferably client side), with an insatiable curiosity for understanding what makes consumers and shoppers tick, coupled with real commercial know how. You will be comfortable working on smaller brands with less robust data. You will be a self starter who has the ability to influence across a broad and complex range of stakeholders (incl, Reserve GM, Whisky Category Director, Head of Malts, Head of Reserve). You will have resilience, combined with emotional intelligence to build collaborative and powerful relationships. You’ll be interested in the luxury world, and have a good 8-10 years of planning experience
Where will you be working?
The role is based in Park Royal, London but some travel (once every couple of months) will be required during the year to our European hubs. The role reports into the Head of Planning, Whisky & Reserve, Europe.
