The Role

As an Economic Development Officer you will be required to work flexibly to support the Head of Inclusive Economy and the senior management team to deliver growth, business and employment priorities. You will be responsible for managing projects, working with partners, collecting and analysing data, researching policy and developing strategy.

You will need to build and maintain strong networks and relationships with key partners and officers from across the Council and externally, and be able to spot economic development challenges and opportunities. You’ll take pride in making a difference and do the best you can to support the development of the Council’s strategic approach to business and economic growth, employment and skills and the aspirations stated in the Camden Plan. You’ll have an adaptable approach and take responsibility for delivering key projects to support the delivery of activities that promote the success of Camden’s growth and important sectors and address barriers to growth. Your work will help to provide benefits for Camden residents for instance by helping to identify excellent employment and training opportunities for Camden residents.

About you

To succeed in this role you’ll have up to date knowledge and understanding of a broad range of economic development policy, strategy and delivery (including areas such as business support and development, economic growth and the knowledge economy, the regional skills agenda, social welfare, and labour market issues). A great communicator with excellent written, presentation and influencing skills, you’ll have experience of dealing with a broad range of people from the public to private sector partners and senior managers. Your strong analytical capability and ability to take a strategic approach will allow you to respond to business needs. Your project and stakeholder management skills mean that you’ll be able to deliver projects effectively in collaboration with others.
