Hackney Council is looking for someone who is highly organised to join our parking team. As Suspensions Officer, you will process applications for parking suspensions across the borough. Managing parking is an important way we make Hackney greener, safer and cleaner.

As Suspensions Officer you will make sure any applications to suspend parking are processed within our agreed timescales. You will also check the amount we receive from pay and display machines reconciles with our agreed collection schedule.

We need someone with excellent communication skills. You will be dealing with queries from our diverse community of residents and businesses. You should be able to respond clearly to emails and telephone requests and liaise with other Council departments.

You will need to have a grasp of basic financial management and be able to raise invoices, credit notes and deal with refunds. You should have an understanding of a variety of IT packages and be able to process new applications and record accurate details on our systems.

We need someone who enjoys being part of a team, yet able to motivate themselves and prioritise their own workload within a pressurised environment.

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work.  We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best.  We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values so we achieve the best for our residents, please apply.

When applying for this role, there will be competency based questions within the application form to complete. Please ensure these questions are completed. A supporting statement is not required.

Closing date for applications: 24 July 2019

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently under represented in our workforce.
