Location: Islington with work in surrounding boroughs

Maa Shanti supports single Asian mothers who are fleeing domestic violence. We provide advocacy, emotional support, signposting and activities that reduce isolation, promote peer support and enable women to access opportunities for them and their children. We run a programme of workshops and events, which increase knowledge on how to stay safe, improve access to relevant support, focus on mental well-being and increase participation in the local community.  We provide weekly activities and drop-in sessions, arts and crafts, yoga, group trips and mother and child activities during school holidays.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to support our frontline service delivery provisions. The role will be responsible for advocacy, workshops, delivering social activities, outreach community work and administration of local projects. You will develop and maintain new and existing partnerships with local organisations to improve support for single Asian mothers and their children, be responsible for recruitment and supervision of volunteers to work with and support service users and you will also help to develop new activities as guided by service user involvement.

You will be able to demonstrate proven success of working on projects, delivering results and meeting targets, experience of providing services to vulnerable women such as emotional support, advocacy, counselling, casework and groupwork and excellent administration and IT skills. You will have proven communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to speak a South Asian language such as Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi or Gujarati.
