DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND RESOURCES

Womankind Worldwide is a global women’s rights organisation working in partnership with women’s rights movements and organisations to transform the lives of women and girls. We strengthen and support women’s movements in our focus countries in Africa and Asia, and take collective action at regional and global levels, to ensure women’s voices are heard, their rights are realised, and their lives are free from violence.

Womankind is looking for a Director of Finance and Resources (DFR) who will be the leader of the Finance & Resources Team (made up of the DFR, Office & HR Manager, Finance & Operations Manager, Management Accountant, and the Finance Officer) and a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). The role is responsible, with the CEO, Director Programmes & Learning, Director Policy and Communication, and the Director of Fundraising & Marketing for contributing to strategic direction and delivery of Womankind’s organisational strategy.

The DFR is also responsible for optimising Womankind Worldwide’s financial position through effective financial and risk management, ensuring value for money on expenditure, supporting the finance team to deliver excellence in project portfolio and individual project contract management, and providing expert advice to income generation and sustainable growth strategies. You will also be responsible for oversight of the management of human resources, information technology and facilities.

You will be able to build effective relationships with senior level colleagues and teams across the organisation to ensure coherence and consistency of approach, ideas and activities. You will have significant contact with the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee (FRC), and will prepare papers for and attend quarterly Committee and Board meetings. You will lead the Finance & Resources team, and be as hands on as necessary to ensure systems, internal controls, and operational management are in place, in order to meet Womankind’s financial, contractual, statutory and legal responsibilities.

Probationary period 6 months

Holidays  25 days per annum, plus English bank holidays (to be pro-rated for PT hours) plus 3 extra days given for the Christmas and new year period when the office is closed.
