Your opportunity

Auditor needed to work within team responding to regulatory investigations and actions, claims and other contentious situations against or involving the firm and our partners.

The contentious matters team is looking for an Assistant Manager or Manager (M1/M2) qualified accountant, with recent audit experience, to join its team, on a secondment or fixed term contract basis.

The contentious matters team sits within National Quality and Risk Management and deals with all regulatory investigations and actions, claims and other contentious matters against or involving the firm. Whilst the team handles all such matters across the firm and service lines, this role will focus on audit-related matters. This is an interesting role providing a unique insight into the firm, excellent experience in dealing with often high profile cases and risk issues faced by the firm.

For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills, and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.

Your role

Regulatory investigations and actions, claims and other contentious matters, the role will involve all aspects of handling a contentious matter related to audit such as:

  • Liaising with, supporting and updating our internal stakeholders, including engagement teams, internal review teams, Audit QRM, and firm and risk leadership;
  • Liaising with our external advisors, including solicitors, counsel and experts, as well as relevant witnesses;
  • Communicating with regulators (including responding to their enquiries) and other external bodies (for example, claimants’ lawyers);
  • Collating and identifying relevant case documentation;
  • Attending interviews and hearings;
  • Reviews of historic audit files and associated emails/other documents to identify and assess quality of work and potential exposures;
  • Helping in the preparation of submissions and defences; and
  • Assessment of evidence and evaluation of the firm’s position.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: London with occasional domestic travel.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication and influencing skills;
  • Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work on own initiative within a challenging work environment;

The team enjoys a high profile within the firm, with continuous access to leadership. You will have the opportunity to play a vital role in protecting Deloitte’s brand, reputation, people and resources.
