As one of our Software Engineers on the Lloyds Banking Group Operational Customer Information System (OCIS) you will sit within a specialized, predominantly mainframe, focused team who are critical to the provision of a 24*7 category A system underpinning LBG digital online channels and big data systems. Java and Scala would be your main development language and experience of ReactJS, Kafka and mainframe systems would be desirable.

Salary: £45,477 to £53,056 base salary, plus significant annual personal bonus %, car allowance, 13% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. What would you get involved with?


You'll be building, maintaining and enhancing mission critical services and supporting systems, with an aspiration to build a career and be recognised within LBG as a domain expert on the systems you support. You'll think of the customer in everything you do.



You'll help develop fresh ideas to enable us to optimize the way in which we work and achieve run cost reductions through automation and a DevOps approach.

You will establish effective working relationships with other teams across IT, the Group and offshore partners with a focus on assisting the delivery of business value through sound software engineering methods and principles.

You'll develop an understanding of the core mainframe systems that are at the heart of our Platform, and utilise your knowledge and experience to help move processing and services on to our chosen strategic cloud solution.

What do you need to be considered for this job?


We welcome people from a range of role backgrounds but do need to see the following as a minimum for consideration: 1) Software Engineering background with experience in building large scale applications, 2) solid development experience in Java and Scala plus ReactJS, Kafka and mainframe systems would be desirable., 3) Good interpersonal skills and a good communicator with technical and non-technical people, 4) WebSphere and API eco-systems, 5) experience of using GITHUB and Jenkins in development.



For this level of role we will generally look upward of around 3 year's total experience over your career, the more the merrier!

Oh, and if you have exposure to the following that would be ideal, but please still apply if you don't! Experience working within an Agile project environment, Cobol (big plus but we know many modern developers won't have encountered it for years!), knowledge of how relational databases work and Kafka (real time data streaming)
