Hackney Council is looking for someone with an understanding of Traffic Orders and GIS to join our Parking and Markets service. This role plays an important part of the work we do to support the community and make Hackney cleaner, safer and greener.

As a GIS Officer you will be technical support for the parking services operations team. You will help us administer and maintain our map based traffic order records, making sure data is accurate and formatted correctly. You will also have the opportunity to work on specific innovative projects which will improve the ways we work.

Day to day, you will help us manage our traffic order processes and map restrictions which have been surveyed by the Field Service engineers. You will also generate maps and tailor them for our needs using different software such as Adobe Illustrator and Map Info.

We need someone who is well organised, has great communication skills (written and oral) and is able to work with teams across the Council. You should have a proactive approach, be driven to support our business priorities and strive to improve the quality of the work we do. An understanding of the regulatory environment within which we operate would be helpful.

You will need to be highly organised and bring a structured approach to prioritise a competing workload. You will need an understanding of mapping traffic restriction on highways and in-depth knowledge of Park Map software as well as traffic orders. Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat Professional skills would be desirable for the role.
