Fixed Term/Secondment Contract (18 months) – Full-Time

The Council is looking for an experienced Programme Support Officer to join their forward-thinking and busy development team. If successful you will work across the directorate providing support to programme areas including Estate Regeneration, Housing Supply, Area Regeneration and Woodberry Down.

The post holder will need to quickly establish strong working relationships with each team to support the effective management, development and delivery of regeneration in the borough.

As Programme Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, partners and contractors and will need to be confident and efficient at multitasking and a clear communicator. You will work closely with project teams to organise quarterly monitoring, prepare client care meetings, as well as coordinate project briefings and information sharing to ensure the smooth running of the Division.

Ideally you will have strong ICT skills, a track record of administrative support skills and experience of maintaining project management software, creating reports and supporting delivery teams with workflow processes.

Whilst a background in housing and regeneration is desirable for this role it is not essential as we are keen to recruit a Programme Support Officer with a wide range of skills and experiences.

A lack of affordable homes is a key concern for Hackney’s residents, and addressing this is at the heart of the Council’s work. That’s why Hackney is building.

The Council’s Regeneration team is building thousands of Council homes for social rent, shared ownership and outright sale at more than 30 sites across Hackney.

It is leading on the delivery of this in-house programme at all stages – starting with setting the briefs for sites, selecting architects and the wider design teams, managing the design process and procuring contractors or developer partners.

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form. It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience. You are not required to submit a supporting statement or CV.

Closing date for applications: 06 October 2019

Interviews: 23-25 October 2019

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently under represented in our workforce.
