We’re closing Timewise Jobs, so we can focus on helping employers design truly flexible roles

We’re sorry to announce that we are closing Timewise Jobs; our jobsite that links candidates to the flexible jobs they need – but it’s all for a good reason, so we can really focus on helping employers design truly flexible roles. This is where we think Timewise is really needed. Here’s more about how we’ve come to this decision.

When we launched Timewise’s precursor Women Like Us, back in 2006, very few job adverts mentioned flexibility. Indeed, it was our co-founders’ inability to find a flexible job that drove them to switch careers and focus on widening access to flex for all.

Timewise Jobs has been a critical part of this movement. Launched in 2012, it was the first jobs board to solely advertise part-time and flexible roles, and has been a beacon for candidates who want, or need, decently-paid flexible work. We’ve posted up to 20,000 flexible jobs a year, supported 90,000 registered candidates at any one time, and worked with a huge number of employers, ranging from the National Trust, to GlaxoSmithKline, to Diageo. And we’ve proved beyond all doubt that there is a market for job adverts which offer flexible options.

However, when we started Timewise Jobs, we said that our work would be done once other flexible jobs boards existed. And now, at last, that’s the reality. There are a number of flex-focused recruitment services, such as Flexible Working People and CJ Talent, where you can register your CV. Even mainstream recruiters are starting to see the value in promoting flexible options up front, and the new Day One Flex legislation is likely to see that increase further.

Of course, Timewise has always been more than just a jobs board. We conduct research into the state of the flex market; we campaign for change in employment practices; and we work directly with employers to help them get flexible working right. There are far fewer organisations working in these areas – and almost no one focusing on hard-to-flex sectors.

We have therefore decided to close Timewise Jobs on 31st December 2023, and focus all our efforts on helping employers and policymakers to research, design, pilot and implement flexible roles – particularly in hard-to-flex sectors – and campaigning for fairer flexible futures.

We are so proud of what we have achieved through Timewise Jobs, and look forward to opening up more flexible opportunities for candidates through this work. We would like to thank all of you who have come to us to find the flexible jobs you were looking for, and wish you all the best for the future.

If you have found the job you wanted through Timewise Jobs, we’d love to hear your story; please email us at info@timewise.co.uk or DM our Instagram @timewise_uk. Otherwise, we would like to thank all of you who have come to us to find the flexible jobs you were looking for, and wish you all the best for the future.
